What is a medspa?

Medspas offer medical grade aesthetic procedures in a relaxing environment.  Such treatments can include Botox Cosmetic for wrinkles in the upper face, fillers for restoring volume loss in the face, laser therapies for repairing sun damage, laser hair removal, acne therapy, and medical-grade facials and peels. In addition, Medspas are able to sell medical-grade skin care products that further enhance the benefits of the procedures they offer.

Are there any side effects after injectables?

The most common side effects are temporary, and may include: tenderness, swelling, firmness, lumps/bumps, bruising, pain, redness, discoloration, and itching. These side effects are consistent with other facial-injection procedures. Icing after injections highly reduces these side effects.

What does Botox treat?

BOTOX Cosmetic can help you improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between your brows, crow’s feet, and your forehead. Initially, you can expect to get treatments every 3 – 4 months to maintain the desired result. Most patients use Botox less frequently and/or in smaller doses over time because the wrinkles soften and become less visible.

Before your treatment:

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, Botox treatments are not recommended.

Patients with Eaton-Lambert syndrome, Lou Gehrig’s disease, other neurologic diseases should not receive Botox.

Avoid NSAIDS & alcohol 3 days before your treatment when possible.

After your treatment:

You may experience mild bruising and/or headache in the first 24 hours.

Avoid ibuprofen, aspirin, & other NSAIDS 3 days after your treatment, use Tylenol for pain.

Avoid massaging treated areas for the rest of the day.

Keep your head above chest level for at least 4 hours.

Avoid working out the day of the treatment.

Use expression (contract the muscles) as much as possible.

Botox touch ups

The amount of Botox used, and the areas treated depend on the person’s muscle activity and pattern.  Each person is different and, as such, require a different amount. Frequently, patients who have been treated with Botox find they need a touch more Botox since one side of the face is usually stronger (90% of the time) than the other.

What Is the Cost of a Botox Touch Up?

The Botox touch-up cost can be as little as $30 to upwards of $150, depending on how many units are required.

Should you get a Botox touch-up?

Yes…and no.  Botox lasts, on average, 12-14 weeks.  A touch up is a good idea only if you need it and if you’re in the initial 14-21 day window.  Why? because if the touch up is given beyond 14-21 days, the Botox will be wearing off unevenly. Therefore, if you’re more than 3 weeks out from your original injection, it’s best to wait until your next treatment.  If your facial appearance does not improve with Botox, other facial rejuvenation treatments may be required. Please contact our office, Stay Beautiful Medspa, (978-203-0172) if you have any questions or concerns about how your skin is responding to the treatment.

Do Botox injections hurt?

It feels like a tiny pinch, however, we do offer an effective numbing cream and ice to help with any discomfort.

How long do results of filler injections last?

Results may vary, but dermal filler can last up to one year. Many clients like to replenish their look after 6-9 months.

What happens in the office right before injectable treatments?

The nurse will first have you fill out a medical history form as well as ask about any allergies you may have. Then you will discuss treatment goals. She will walk you through the treatment and tell you what to expect, if there are any side effects, as well as after care (if any). She will also assess your skin and may take before and after photos. Numbing cream may also be applied 15 minutes before injections.

How often should I get a facial?

It is ideal to see your esthetician every 4-6 weeks, especially if you are treating acne. It is so important to have a consistent skin care routine!

How do I know which treatment is right for me?

We are happy to provide you with a complimentary consultation. We understand every skin type is different and every client has unique, specific skin care needs. Let us give your skin a proper examination to give you the best results moving forward.

What is the difference between electrolysis and laser hair removal?

Although both treatments take multiple sessions to see desired results, laser hair removal is faster during the actual treatment. Electrolysis hair removal requires more time because it’s a process that treats only one hair at a time, whereas laser hair removal treats many hairs per every laser pulse.
